Hutchison was the head professional at Glen View Club for thirty-five years from 1918 to 1953. For many of those years, he held the professional course record of 64. He won the 1920 and 1923 Western Open, the 1920 PGA Championship at Flossmoor, and, returning to his birthplace, the 1921 British Open at St. Andrews. He was a two-time winner of the North & South, the 1947 National Senior Champion and a four time Senior runner-up from 1945-1951. Jock was named the first honorary starter at the Masters, along with Fred McLeod. He was inducted into the National PGA Hall of Fame in 1959 and the American Golf Hall of Fame in 1971.
