James O'Keefe

Inducted: 1992

Golf was just one of the many passions of Jim O'Keefe. A distinguished lawyer, banker, business and civic leader, O'Keefe dedicated his life to his family, friends and his community. His devotion to the game in the Chicago area earned him the title of Mr. Golf. O'Keefe was a director of the WGA from 1951-56, and rose to the presidency of the CDGA. He was also named to the PGA of America advisory board and the USGA executive committee. Most notable were O'Keefe's charitable and philanthropic efforts. During his term as WGA president, O'Keefe headed a committee to raise money for a new Evan's Scholar's chapter house at Marquette University. O'Keefe collected more than $1 million for the house that was dedicated in his name in 1988.
